Police ID motorcyclist killed in crash | News, Sports, Jobs

The Maui Police Department has identified 31-year-old Nickolas Dotson of Wailuku as the motorcyclist who died in a crash early Tuesday morning.

Dotson was traveling southbound on Kehalani Mauka Parkway in Wailuku at about 1:19 a.m. when he collided into the curb, then hit a fire hydrant and a posted sign, according to police. He was ejected from the motorcycle onto the roadway and died at the scene.

The involvement of speed, alcohol and drugs has not been determined, as the investigation is still pending, police said.

Dotson is Maui County’s 14th traffic fatality of 2023, compared to 16 at the same time last year.
